Getting back into working out is hard. Getting to enjoy extra shakes & snacks afterward? Yep- I’m okay with that! Typically I drink some chocolate milk, have a little bowl of a healthy cereal/granola or steal a spoonful of peanut butter…. but sometimes I want something different. Enter: watermelon.
Dean the trainer said that watermelon is a great post-workout snack because it is hydrating, replenishes your electrolytes and glycogen, and it can help prevent muscle soreness . Some studies even show that watermelon can help your future workout performance! Yes and yes.
To save myself from having to do too much work after yesterday’s run, I cut and froze all of the watermelon ahead of time. All I had to do was throw everything in the blender when I got home. Easy enough for me!
