Dean circa the tail end of Parade Day 2011
This weekend Scranton is hosting one of the biggest St. Patrick’s Day Parades in the nation. I know what you’re thinking. Little baby Scranton? No way! ummm- yes way! In fact, the website says “We are the second largest parade in the country, as measured by participants per population of the city in which it’s held*. Savannah, GA is first, New York City was third. ” (via)
Downtown Scranton wasn’t too far from my college, so I’ve been heading down with friends almost every year since 2006. It’s always a good time, but it’s pretty messy and there’s a good chance that you’ll feel like death the next day. Dean and I are looking to have an enjoyable weekend and with this in mind we’ll probably just partake in some after-parade activities. Maybe grab a green beer and a nice dinner? We’ll see!
Does your town do anything fun for the holiday? Seeing friends? Making some crafts? Hunting down a double rainbow? Well, here are some recipes from around the web just in case you need a little help with your planning.
oh and my favorite St Paddy’s Day recipe?
